Instead of a straight line from fly rod butt to tip, the Advanced Compound Taper (ACT) increases the degree of taper near the tip of the rod. To visualize this, a straight taper would look like an inverted V and the ACT is shaped like the Washington Monument. The result is a "forgiving" tip that makes a fly rod a great casting and fishing tool. |
