I caught this Bow using a Fly Logic reel matched with a St. Croix 5 wt. rod. I was fishing about 2 hours North of Anchorage at one of my favorite streams. It was my big fish of the day measuring just 1/2 an inch short of 30 inches. My fishing buddy Sean caught one about an inch longer but who cares about that? Needless to say we had an awesome day catching close to 100 fish apiece and all were in the 20 + inch range.
This reel performed flawlessly and has caught pretty close to 5000 trout in the 5 years since its purchase. When catching trophy Rainbow's on 8 and 10 Lb. line, the reel makes all the difference in the world. The drag is the smoothest I have used and would send any body looking for a good reel in this direction.
The reel I use is a FLO789. I know that it sounds a little heavy for trout fishing but I
also use it for salmon - and a new sport I just started trying - Halibut
fishing with a fly rod. So I go to a 9 wt rod for the bigger fish. During
the months of Sept. and Oct. I normally have 100 to 150 fish days.
